Thin Aluminum Diamond Plate Sheets: What .025" Is Good For
A lot of people come to us asking for diamond plate and assume thicker is better. For most walls and trim jobs it isn't. Our most popular sheet is .025" thick, and that's on purpose. It's easy to work with, easy to cut and easy to ship, and it does what most projects need.
What "thin" means here
Our thin aluminum diamond plate sheets are .025" embossed aluminum diamond plate made from 3104 aluminum. Embossed means the diamond pattern is pressed into the sheet, so the back side shows the pattern too. You get the look of diamond plate without the weight of tread plate.

They come in three sizes:
- 2'x8' (24"x96"), 5.7 lbs
- 4'x8' (48"x96"), 11.3 lbs
- 4'x10' (48"x120"), 14.1 lbs
A full 4x8 sheet weighs about the same as a bag of groceries. One person can carry it, hold it on a wall and fasten it.
Colors
Traditional Polished has the classic mirror shine. Gloss Black is smooth and modern. Gunmetal Gray is less shiny and more industrial. Race Red is a bold red. All four come in every size.

What thin diamond plate is good for
Thin sheets are built for walls and low-impact jobs. Customers use them for:
- Garage walls
- Rock guards and trailer siding
- Gyms and fitness centers
- Mechanical rooms and storage areas
- Food trucks

If it goes on a vertical surface and nobody is driving on it, .025" is usually the right call. Businesses use it too, for lunchrooms, counters and service areas.

What it's not for
Some customers do use embossed .025" on floors, like walk-in coolers, trailers and food trucks. But thicker material is usually better for floors. For floors, ramps, truck beds or anything people drive on, use our heavy-duty sheets from .045" to .125". Our diamond plate weight and thickness chart shows the difference side by side.
Cutting thin diamond plate
This is where thin sheets really pay off. You can cut .025" with no saw and no shop needed. An electric metal shear is much better for long cuts. Tinner's snips are fine for short cuts and trim. Many customers also use a grinder with a metal cutting wheel. Our garage wall kits even include a pair of Wiss tinner's snips.

If you'd rather not cut at all, we'll do it for you. Square cuts are $23 each, and we'll cut a sheet as many times as you need. Put your dimensions in the order notes or upload a drawing at checkout. The more detail you give us, the faster it ships. For big jobs with lots of pieces, a cut list optimizer helps you figure out how many sheets you need.
Installing it
Thin sheets go up on drywall with construction adhesive, screws or double-sided tape. Clean the wall, mark your layout, then fasten the sheets. Finish the joints and edges with aluminum H-seam moldings, inside corner moldings and J-trim from our trim collection. Our how-to guide covers cutting, bending and fastening step by step.

How it ships
We ship thin sheets rolled and boxed, right to your door. Each one has a light-tack PVC film on it, so the face stays clean during shipping and install. Peel it off when you're done. Orders over $600 ship free.
Buying a lot?
If you need more than 20 sheets, look at our wholesale listing. Doing a whole garage? The diamond plate wall panel kits come with the sheets, moldings and snips for a 1, 2 or 3-car garage.
